Tucker Wetmore Celebrates His Debut Album Release With an Intimate Performance for Fans
The past year has been nothing short of a whirlwind for Tucker Wetmore. After the country singer broke through in 2024 with his hit single “Wine Into Whiskey,” he struck gold again with “Wind Up Missin’ You,” which landed at number one on the country charts and quickly made the RADAR US artist a name to watch. To date, the two hits have racked up nearly 400 million Spotify streams.
Fast-forward to the present, and Tucker is fresh off the release of his debut album, What Not To, which features the buzzy single “3,2,1.” To celebrate this milestone, Spotify cohosted a special fan event in Los Angeles where fans had the opportunity to meet the rising star and enjoy an intimate live performance.
We also hosted Tucker for a live Q&A where he revealed his rise to fame, his journey into music, and the creative approach behind his new album.
You kicked off 2025 by scoring your first number-one hit. What has your life been like since?
It’s been pretty nuts. I’ve done a lot. I played my first shows in the U.K. a month ago. If you were to ask me a year ago if I could imagine going overseas and playing shows, I would’ve said you’re crazy.
Getting that number one is something that I was dreaming about for as long as I could remember, and starting the year off with that was pretty cool.
How did you get started in music? Was there a moment you knew this was the path?
Music was my first love, and so far, it’s been my only one. I kinda put it down for a little bit to focus on sports. I ended up going to college in Montana to play football, but after breaking my leg for the third time, I thought it was best that I hang up the cleats.
So I moved back home and I was pretty lost. I remember sitting my mom down one day and saying, “I don’t know what I’m doing with my life.” She goes, “Go play your piano and quit bawlin’ at me.”
I went and wrote my first song that night and didn’t look back. That was in 2019.
How are you feeling about the new album?
I’m excited. But I’m also a little nervous. It’s my first big project and I hope people like it as much as I do.
What does the new album reveal about you that we didn’t already know?
The way I explain the album is that it offers a glimpse into who I am as a person. But everything is very intentional and connected, even down to the tracklisting and why I put songs in the order I did.
I grew up a very album-based listener, and I didn’t want my projects to be a bunch of singles on a piece of paper that you listen to. I want my music to have meaning, and it’s gonna be fun to see you guys figure out why one song comes after another, or how different lyrics are connected.
I’m just really excited. I’m like a kid in a candy shop right now.
