Music fans worldwide turn to Genius to uncover the lyrics, meaning, and stories behind their favorite tracks. Today, Spotify is bringing that experience directly to our platform by partnering with Genius on its slate of video series.
For the first time, Spotify users can stream full video episodes of Genius’ live performance series, Open Mic, while Verified, Genius’ signature artist-led lyric breakdown series, will add a backlog of older episodes alongside new releases. Since launching in 2016, both series have become popular fan destinations for music storytelling and discovery, racking up more than 3.7 billion combined views.
Open Mic brings viewers intimate, stripped-back performances from global stars and rising talent alike. The first new episode, available now, spotlights Grammy Award-winning rapper Rapsody performing “Pick A Side” from her latest album, God Gotta Afro & Gold Hoops. New episodes of Open Mic drop every Thursday at 11 a.m. ET, and fans now also have access to a curated selection of archival episodes featuring Bebe Rexha, Rod Wave, and Teddy Swims.
The partnership also expands the footprint of Verified on Spotify following a successful initial rollout. The series gives artists a platform to dissect their lyrics, themes, and creative process. Since its inaugural episode featuring Mac Miller, Zara Larsson, and 21 Savage, Verified has hosted industry heavyweights like Alicia Keys, Billie Eilish, Doja Cat, Lorde, Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and Phoebe Bridgers.
New episodes of Verified premiere Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m. ET. This week, Magnus Ferrell discusses his hit “Asleep Talking.”
