Spotify Launches ‘Mi Primer Escenario’ in Argentina, Offering Emerging Artists a Festival Debut

Supporting emerging artists is woven into Spotify’s DNA, and we’re amplifying that commitment by bringing our “Mi Primer Escenario” (My First Stage) music contest to Argentina for the first time.

Fresh off a successful launch in Mexico, which saw rising star Mia Salinas take the stage at MEXCLA Spotify, “Mi Primer Escenario” now offers up-and-coming Argentine artists the opportunity to showcase their music and connect with listeners in a whole new way. Local fans will be able to vote for their favorite contestants directly through the Spotify app and help launch the next big Argentine music career.

The grand prize? A performance slot at Quilmes Rock, one of Argentina’s largest rock music festivals, alongside legendary acts including Los Piojos, Andrés Calamaro, Miranda!, Babasonicos, and Los Auténticos Decadentes. The festival takes place at Tecnópolis in Buenos Aires on April 5 and 6, and April 12 and 13. The winner will also snag the cover of Spotify’s Top Verano 2025 playlist.

“National rock continues to leave its mark in Argentina, and with the new wave of emerging artists, the genre continues to evolve and transcend generations,” said Carolina Martin, Spotify’s Artist & Label Partnerships Lead, Southern Cone. “As part of our mission to support local talent, we launched this contest to give participants the chance to showcase their music to the world and debut at one of the most iconic festivals in the country, hand in hand with their favorite audio platform.”

Ready to rock? Here’s how to participate:

Phase 1: February 4 to February 11

Record a video (30 seconds to 2 minutes) of you performing an original rock, indie, or pop-rock song. Upload it to TikTok with the hashtag #SpotifyMiPrimerEscenario. (Make sure you have full rights to the song.) The 20 entries with the most comments will advance to the semifinals.

Phase 2: February 19 to February 28

The Spotify team will select 10 finalists based on their affinity with the Quilmes Rock lineup. These artists will be featured on a special Spotify playlist where users in Argentina will be able to vote for their favorites using a new in-app tool (mobile only). The artist or band with the most votes wins!

To vote, simply open the playlist and listen to the song of the artist you want to support. At the end of the playlist, you’ll see the voting option. Free users will be able to vote once a day during the voting period, while Premium users will get three votes per day.

Phase 3: March 5 to Quilmes Rock

We’ll announce the winner on March 5, and they’ll be featured on the cover of Spotify’s Top Verano 2025 playlist for the following week. Then they’ll make their festival debut with a 30-minute set at Quilmes Rock in April. Additionally, all 10 finalists will be added to a separate Spotify editorial playlist.

Eligibility requirements for artists
  • Be of legal age, of Argentine nationality, and a resident of the Argentine Republic.
  • Be available to travel to Buenos Aires to perform at the event.
  • Have an active Spotify profile with at least six original tracks, and at least two tracks uploaded in the last year. Additionally, you must have fewer than 50K monthly listeners.

‘Mi Primer Escenario’ Offers Emerging Mexican Artists a Chance To Perform at ‘MEXCLA Spotify’

Supporting emerging artists is a fundamental part of Spotify’s DNA, and we’re going one step further with our first-ever music contest in Mexico, “Mi Primer Escenario” (My First Stage). The contest gives the country’s exciting new talent an opportunity to showcase their skills, and fans in Mexico can vote for their favorite contestants straight from the Spotify app.

As a reward, the winner of “Mi Primer Escenario” will have the chance to perform at MEXCLA Spotify: Palenque, Feria y Cotorreo—Spotify’s biggest live event in Mexico to date—and land the cover of our Top Mexico playlist.

“With ‘Mi Primer Escenario,’ we want to give artists the opportunity to step on their first stage and share their music with the public,” said Alejandro Grageda, Artist and Label Relations Lead at Spotify Mexico. “For some years now we have dedicated efforts to support emerging artists through our RADAR program and other initiatives. That’s why we are excited to bring this contest to life, and together with the fans open the MEXCLA Spotify stage to a new talent in Mexico.”

MEXCLA Spotify will unite fans, artists, and creators at Mexico City’s Parque Bicentenario November 2-3, showcasing the diversity of Mexico’s musical and creative landscapes and celebrating Mexican pride. The winning artist or band from “Mi Primer Escenario” will be part of a lineup that includes Grupo Firme, Luis R Conriquez, and Bellakath.

“Mi Primer Escenario” is the perfect opportunity for music made in the country to have the stage and the platform it deserves. Ready to participate? Just follow these steps:

Stage 1 (September 16-29):

Record a 30-60-second video that features your performance of an original song, and upload it to your TikTok account with the hashtag #MiPrimerEscenario. The 15 entries with the most comments will be selected as finalists and advance to the next stage.

Stage 2 (October 7-17):

The finalists will be featured on a special Spotify playlist where users in Mexico will be able to vote for their favorite contestants. Whoever has the most votes at the end will be our winner.

Free users will be able to vote for their favorite artists or bands once a day during the voting period, while Premium users will be able to vote three times a day.

Get a Glimpse Into the Festival di Sanremo With Spotify’s First Italian Original Podcast, ‘The Jackal: tutto Sanremo ma dura meno’

Every year, the eyes and ears of Italy turn to the coasts of Liguria for the Festival di Sanremo, a competition where artists premiere never-before-heard songs in Italian. Now, Spotify is bringing the sounds of Sanremo to listeners around the globe through Spotify’s first Italian Original podcast: The Jackal: tutto Sanremo ma dura meno. Hosted by The Jackal, a renowned Italian comedy collective, the show is a lighthearted look at the festival’s history all the way up to this year’s event, which concludes on March 6.

The festival, which first started in 1951, consists of two categories: one for well-known singers and one for young newcomers. Competition rules dictate that the song must have never been performed in public before, and it must be an original tune. Festival di Sanremo is where many Italian artists make their debuts (like award-winning singer-songwriter Laura Pausini), and there are often international stars who make guest appearances during the event. The winners of the competition are determined by voting from a jury and by guests watching the televised event and voting from home.

The first four episodes of the 10-part podcast are dedicated to the comedy group’s favorite moments of past competitions, highlighting funny and heartwarming stories that made the beloved festival what it is today. After walking down memory lane, the hosts give a play-by-play of this year’s event, peppering their retelling with The Jackal’s signature wit and sharp humor.

Whether you’re interested in experiencing a cherished Italian tradition or you’re a longtime follower of The Jackal, check out The Jackal: tutto Sanremo ma dura meno, available now exclusively on Spotify.
