Bizarrap is the latest artist to reach the Billions Club. The Argentinian producer has racked up more than 1 billion streams on Spotify of his track “Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52,” which features Spanish rapper Quevedo. We awarded the coveted Billions Club plaque to Bizarrap following the conclusion of his “BZRP Live Tour,” a three-night performance that took place at Hipódromo Argentino de Palermo in front of more than 60,000 fans.

From Argentina to the world

This recognition of Bizarrap’s achievement is a reflection of his incredible success on Spotify and of the global respect and admiration he’s earned through his music.

When his single with Quevedo first released last July, it only took 10 days for it to reach the top of Spotify’s global charts, and it made Bizarrap the first Argentinian artist to go number one globally. It later became Argentina’s most-streamed song in 2022, capping off a momentous year for Bizarrap and Quevedo, who also received a plaque for his contribution to the smash song.

The Bzrp Music Sessions series has been a hit on Spotify, with the top 10 most popular sessions featuring some of the biggest names in music. Shakira, Tiago PZK, NATHY PELUSO, L-Gante, Villano Antillano, Eladio Carrion, Nicky Jam, Nicki Nicole, and Aleman have all contributed, helping to catapult the young producer to fame.

Bizarrap’s growth is evident in his Spotify numbers. In just seven years, he went from 1.2 million streams to more than 2.9 billion in 2022. He was also the most-streamed Argentinian artist in the world last year.

Spotify ‘opens up’ for the show

Prior to Bizarrap’s performances in Buenos Aires, Spotify teamed up with the artist and helped fans get in the spirit by launching a collaborative playlist. Listeners were invited to submit songs they wanted to hear for the warm-up, creating a new way to interact with fans before the concert kicked off.

Bizarrap’s success is a testament to his talent and hard work. Congratulations to Bizarrap and Quevedo for their historic achievement—we can’t wait to see what the future holds for these two talented artists.

German Artists Milky Chance, Robin Schulz, and Felix Jaehn Join the Billions Club on Spotify

What does it take to break into Spotify’s “One Billion Streams Club?” A lot of talent and a bevy of passionate fans who just can’t get enough. When an artist has a track that reaches a billion streams on Spotify, their song is featured on the BILLIONS CLUB playlist. Now, a new collection of German artists—the first to do so—can add this milestone to their careers. Get to know them below.

Milky Chance

Hailing from the Hessian town of Kassel, Milky Chance is the first German band to have a song reach 1 billion streams on Spotify. Their song “Stolen Dance” was recorded at the childhood home of the band’s lead vocalist, Clemens Rehbein. After publishing the song online in 2013, it soon became an international hit, reaching the top of the charts in more than a dozen countries.

“If someone had told us 10 years ago that this song would reach 1 billion streams, we wouldn’t have believed it. We still have to pinch ourselves from time to time,” said the band. “The magnitude of that number is incredibly hard to comprehend. We’re extremely grateful and want to thank our fans for their huge ongoing support.”

Since “Stolen Dance,” Milky Chance has released three critically acclaimed studio albums and recorded more than 5 billion total streams on Spotify.

Robin Schulz

Musician, DJ, and record producer Robin Schulz has seen unparalleled success thanks to his talent for emotional melodies and beats. With more than 450 gold, platinum, and diamond awards—in 30 countries—it’s no surprise he can now add the “One Billion Stream Club” to his list of accolades. His track Sugar (feat. Francesco Yates)” was released in 2015, and the catchy tune has racked up more than a billion streams. Most recently, Robin has collaborated with Dennis Lloyd (“Young Right Now”), Justin Quiles (“AEIOU”), and David Guetta (“On Repeat”) to release a series of dance-worthy tracks. All together, the artist has seen more than 10.5 billion streams on Spotify.

Felix Jaehn

Dance DJ and producer Felix Jaehn became a household name in 2015 with his house reinterpretation of Chaka Khan’s classic “Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better) (feat. Jasmine Thompson).” He reached new heights when, in the same year, he released his remix of Omi’s “Cheerleader.” The track reached number one in 55 countries and topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for five consecutive weeks. The song’s success resulted in Felix’s becoming one of the most in-demand electronic acts in the world. Since then, he has continuously produced pop dance hits that dominate playlists, dancefloors, and airwaves around the world. To date Felix has racked up over 200 gold and platinum certifications and amassed over 10 million streams on Spotify.

These newly welcomed artists prove that there’s a lot of impressive musical talent emerging from Germany.

Fans Worldwide Can Now Stream Duki and BZRP’s Session—And Watch Spotify’s Exclusive Video

Biza and Duka

Like so many artists of his generation, Bizarrap started out as a “bedroom producer” making beats over a capella freestyles and remixes of local trap artists using inexpensive tools and self-taught production. But the Argentinian 24-year-old has gone well beyond that, creating a name for himself on the global production scene by collaborating with artists from around the world.

Thanks to the Bizarrap Freestyle Sessions, which he started in 2014, BZRP is now heralded as the first Argentine artist with the most songs featured in the Spotify Global Top 200. His collaborators include Villano Antillano, Nicky Jam, Snow Tha Product, NATHY PELUSO, and many more.

Now BZRP has reached more than 50 freestyle sessions, and to celebrate, he’s collaborated with the number-one artist from Argentina: Duki. Duki listeners may remember the artist’s dismissal of the idea in 2019. But after a few years of fans’ urging and requesting the collaboration, the two artists promised to do a session together if the Argentinian National Team became Copa América champions. (Spoiler alert: The team won in 2021).

After spending a year finessing the single, “Duki: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 50” is here—just in time for the next-biggest football event for Argentina and the world.

In honor of the milestone collaboration, we also released an exclusive video set in Biza’s home studio. We personified iconic elements from Biza’s studio such as the wallpaper, mic, synthesizer, and speakers by giving them the voices of Spanish streamer IBAI, Southern Cone’s most prominent streamer, Coscu, Mexican YouTuber Luisito, and Argentinean journalists Morena Beltran and Julio Leiva, chatting as they eagerly anticipate the 50th session.

Spotify Announces Nominees for 2018 Secret Genius Awards

NE-YO to Host Annual Award Show Recognizing the Most Influential Songwriters, Producers and Engineers in Music on November 16th

Beatmakers. Hitmakers. Songwriters. Producers. Engineers. Mix Engineers. What do all of these individuals have in common? They are Secret Geniuses—the quietly known, seldom recognized driving forces behind the most listened to music in the world. But the secret won’t last long.

In response to the success of last year’s inaugural Secret Genius Awards, Spotify will again honor some of the most creative minds in music at the second annual awards show November 16 at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. Grammy-Award winner NE-YO will host the show which will celebrate Secret Geniuses across 14 categories.

“I look forward to hosting Spotify’s Secret Genius Awards this Fall and joining in the effort to properly recognize and raise awareness of the creative minds behind the music,” said NE-YO. “As both a songwriter and artist I understand just how much these men and women drive the musical soundtracks of our lives. It’s important we honor their hard work and immense contributions.”

Last year, Spotify founded the Secret Genius program as part of its mission to remain dedicated in supporting music’s creator community, which includes artists, songwriters, producers, engineers and mixers. Secret Genius shines particular light on the masterminds behind the music that fans are streaming the most on Spotify. Since the program’s inception, Spotify continues to tell the stories behind today’s biggest hits on the Secret Genius podcast, hosts songwriting “Songshops” camps, and provides studio access to rising songwriters, among other ongoing efforts.

The 2017 Secret Genius Awards honored Rick Rubin as the Legendary Genius, Max Martin as producer of the year, J Kash as songwriter of the year and more with performances by Shawn Mendes, Halsey and PartyNextDoor.

Today, Spotify is honored to announce the brilliant, innovative, thought-provoking songwriters and producers nominated for the 2018 Secret Genius Awards. Presenters, Performers and the recipient of the Legendary Genius Award will be announced at a later date. And the nominees are…

Announcing the Equal (EQL) Studio Residency Program for Women

In partnership with Berklee College of Music and Electric Lady Studios, Spotify’s EQL Studio Residency will help open the door for emerging female producers and engineers while shining a light on the great work already being done by women in the music industry.

Starting in October, the program will offer three residencies in three different cities: New York, Nashville, and London. During these paid six-month residencies, one participant in each city will work hands-on in our studios and gain access to invaluable networking and mentoring opportunities to further her career.

In New York, the resident will split her time between the famed Electric Lady Studios and our own Spotify Studios. In Nashville and London, residents will work out of our Secret Genius Studios, where we’ve shown our commitment to supporting emerging songwriters and producers.

“Women are underrepresented as artists, songwriters, engineers and producers,” says Kerry Steib, Director of Cultural Impact. “We have to use our resources to create opportunities to address this, and do it with great partners across the industry. This is just the beginning.”

“This exciting collaboration recognizes the many contributions women make in the music industry,” says Darla Hanley, Dean of the Professional Education Division at Berklee. “We are happy to support and mentor the recipients of the EQL Studio Residency and look forward to sharing our expertise and many decades of combined experience across all corners of the industry with them.”

“Electric Lady is thrilled to partner with Spotify’s EQL Studio Residency alongside Berklee College of Music in encouragement of more women in audio production, “ says Lee Foster, Partner/ General Manager Electric Lady Studios. We are strong supporters of this movement and look forward to meeting the next generation of women engineers and producers.”
