New Features on Spotify’s Home Hub Make Navigation and Discovery Even Simpler

About a year ago, we reworked the Spotify mobile experience to refresh our Home interface. Since then, Spotify users have been able to access the content they love more quickly and easily—and maybe even discover something new straight from their home screen. But the ease and discovery don’t stop there. This month, we’re announcing a series of updates that will make the Home experience even more personalized for each and every listener.

We’re constantly working on ways to improve our user experience. Through this latest update, we’ll be rolling out several advancements on the mobile Home hub designed to make finding the audio you love easier and more intuitive. These will roll out to users globally on iOS and Android this month.

Whether you’re looking to replay some of your favorites, pick up where you left off, or discover something new, there’s something for everyone on the Home hub. Learn more about these new features below.

  • Travel back in time: Rediscover lost gems in your listening history with a new “Recently played” destination, where users can jump back in time and browse up to three months’ worth of listening history. Premium and Free users globally will be able to browse recently played individual tracks and episodes in addition to the playlists, albums, and shows they were played from.
  • Jump into new and unfinished podcasts: Global Premium users can view new and relevant podcast episodes right within the Home hub. New episodes will be marked with a blue dot, and episodes you’ve already started will display a progress bar indicating how far into the episode you are.
  • Discover more music: Premium users globally won’t miss a single track from artists they love. Now, you will see a new surface highlighted on top of the Home hub dedicated to discovery-oriented recommendations that are personalized, timely, and reactive to your taste.

We believe that together, these updates will improve accessibility of both podcast and music content across mobile for your users. We’ll continue to adapt and evolve our platform to meet the needs of our users, ultimately providing the best possible audio experience for our listeners around the world.

How to Use Spotify Connect, Your Ultimate Listening Remote

At Spotify, we innovate with a simple strategy: to make your experience as turnkey as possible. Our goal is to reduce the time it takes to navigate to and play your favorite music and podcasts. And we’ve been doing it as early as 2013, when we launched Spotify Connect. With this tool, we’ve been enabling users to stream their favorite music and podcasts across their favorite  devices—both at  home and on the go.

By using Spotify Connect you can enjoy high-quality sound (compared to listening via Bluetooth), make and receive calls without stopping the music, play songs directly to save your phone’s battery, and switch devices without missing a beat.

Over time, since our Ubiquity Strategy is aimed at making your ability to play audio across platforms as seamless and intuitive as possible. Now Spotify Connect is available on over 2000 products across 200 hardware brands, and it’s available for all our users.

It’s easy to set up. Here’s a quick guide to get you started.

Get to Your Favorites Faster with Spotify’s New Home Screen

They say there’s no place like home, and we couldn’t agree more. So, we’ve updated Spotify’s mobile and tablet Home screens to be your ultimate go-to location to access content you love, as well as discover something new.

Starting today, when audio lovers open up their Spotify mobiles or tablet apps, they’ll be greeted with a refreshed user interface that allows them to quickly jump back into familiar content. Simply tap to access the podcast you stream each morning, the playlist you always tune into during your workout, or the album you’ve been playing on repeat all week. It’s a dedicated space at the top of Home to quickly and easily access your familiar music and podcasts.

As you may notice throughout your day, the screen and content change along with your schedule, welcoming you with a “Good morning” and transitioning into “Good afternoon,” and even “Good evening” as daylight wanes.

Beneath these six recommendations is a space where you’ll find your top podcasts, “made for you” playlists, recommendations for new discoveries based on your listening, and more. All in, the new Spotify Home does the hard work for you, making it easier than ever to find something to listen to—whether a long-time favorite or brand-new discovery.
