7 Can’t-Miss Audiobooks Available in Spotify Premium

Summer is the perfect time to dive into a new story, whether you’re on the move or just looking for an escape. With Spotify Premium, eligible listeners in select markets can enjoy hours of audiobook listening time each month included with their plan. Our audiobook offerings continue to grow, and with hundreds of thousands of titles to choose from, there’s never been a better moment to discover your next great listen.

Not sure where to start? Our editorial team has handpicked a collection of standout audiobooks that span genres, continents, and cultures.

“When we curate titles for a campaign like this, we take it seriously—but we also have a lot of fun doing it,” said Suzanne Galvez, Director of Editorial and Spotify Publishing. “There’s real responsibility in choosing stories that speak to the moods and moments that matter to our listeners, many of whom aren’t traditional readers. So getting it right? That’s the goal.”

“Music memoirs always strike a chord—Tina Knowles’s Matriarch and Mark Hoppus’s Fahrenheit-182 have been big wins,” she continued. “And when a household name like Stephen King is having a pop culture moment? Even better. His latest Holly Gibney installment, Never Flinch, is a standout. Romantasy continues to be a powerhouse with our listeners, and we had a blast weaving in some buzzy new releases to keep things fresh. We’re excited about this lineup and hope our listeners fall in love with these titles just like we did.”

From romantasy sensations to international bestsellers, here are seven titles Suzanne and her fellow editors are loving:

A Court of Thorns and Roses

By Sarah J. Maas
Narrated by Jennifer Ikeda

After killing a wolf in the woods, young huntress Feyre is dragged to a treacherous magical land as punishment. What begins as captivity soon transforms into something deeper, darker, and more seductive. The first in Sarah J. Maas’s wildly popular series, A Court of Thorns and Roses topped Spotify’s Global Audiobooks of the Year list in 2024.

Why our editors love it: It’s a TikTok sensation for a reason—Sarah J. Maas’s immersive worldbuilding, action-packed scenes, flirtatious banter, and satisfying slow-burn romance easily drew in both the traditional fantasy readers and romance lovers on our team.

Atmosphere: A Love Story

By Taylor Jenkins Reid
Narrated by Kristen DiMercurio, Julia Whelan, and Taylor Jenkins Reid

Set during the 1980s space shuttle era, Atmosphere follows Joan Goodwin, a quiet physics professor who dreams of the stars. When she’s selected to join a newly recruited group of women scientists training for spaceflight, she finds friendship, passion, and love—but everything changes when a mission takes a devastating turn.

Why our editors love it: Our team has long been fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid, and her newest did not disappoint. We loved exploring a tender, emotional, and forbidden love story during such a pivotal moment in history. Plus, we’re absolute suckers for a great story about found family.

Never Flinch: A Novel

By Stephen King
Narrated by Jessie Mueller and Stephen King

Stephen King’s latest thriller follows two converging threats: a revenge-obsessed killer threatening mass murder, and a stalker targeting a feminist speaker on tour. With Holly Gibney on the case, the clock is ticking. Twisting and relentless, Never Flinch introduces an exciting new cast of characters and builds to a chilling conclusion.

Why our editors love it: We fell for the character of Holly Gibney back when reading Mr. Mercedes and have eagerly awaited each new installment of her story. And typical of King, this one doesn’t shy away from moral extremes, highly twisted motives, and the profound effects of trauma.

Matriarch: A Memoir

By Tina Knowles
Narrated by Tina Knowles, Beyoncé, Solange, Kelly Rowland, and Angie Beyincé

Tina Knowles traces her journey from a spirited girl in 1950s Galveston, Texas, to the matriarch of a family whose influence spans music, style, and culture. Told in her voice and those of her daughters, Matriarch celebrates love, resilience, and motherhood.

Why our editors love it: Matriarch is a beautifully honest portrayal of Black motherhood in America. We loved this listen for its candor, emotional depth, and for Tina’s ability to transcend the role of mother to a celebrity and create a highly relatable story about motherhood that spans generations.

Fahrenheit-182: A Memoir

By Mark Hoppus and Dan Ozzi
Narrated by Mark Hoppus

In this sharp, funny, and heartfelt memoir, blink-182’s Mark Hoppus traces his path from angst-ridden kid to pop-punk icon. Along the way, he opens up about identity, anxiety, fame, and his fight with cancer—all in his own unmistakable voice.

Why our editors love it: We adored Mark Hoppus’s candid and honest memoir. From his relatable struggles with chronic anxiety and depression to behind-the scenes blink-182 band lore, there was something for everyone. And Mark’s narration was the icing on the cake.

The Last Wish: Introducing the Witcher

By Andrzej Sapkowski
Narrated by Peter Kenny

Trained, mutated, and armed with magic, Geralt the Witcher is no ordinary killer. But in a world where the fair can be foul and the monstrous may yet be good, each hunt carries unexpected truths. The Last Wish begins the epic fantasy saga that inspired a hit TV series and popular video game franchise.

Why our editors love it: There’s little our team loves more than a morally gray hero, so the Witcher series is right up our alley. This book is clever and gritty, and it introduces an amazingly immersive world that’s enjoyable by both fans of the television series as well as people who just love great fantasy.

The Three-Body Problem

By Cixin Liu
Narrated by Luke Daniels

The first novel in Cixin Liu’s visionary sci-fi epic is set against the backdrop of China’s cultural revolution. When a secret military signal reaches an alien world on the brink of collapse, Earth becomes the target of invasion. As the threat grows, factions begin to choose sides: resistance or surrender.

Why our editors love it: It’s a thought-provoking exploration of astrophysics and theoretical physics told through a fresh non-Western lens with highly complex, relatable characters in high-stakes situations. This series will challenge your worldview in the best possible way.

4 Spotify Tips to Create the Perfect Summer Soundtrack

Summer is here, and whether you’re road-tripping, relaxing poolside, or hosting friends for a backyard barbecue, the right soundtrack can make every moment unforgettable. And with Spotify Premium, it’s easy to put together a personalized summer listening experience.

Curate your ideal vibe

This year, your summer soundtrack is more personalized than ever thanks to recent product updates designed to bring you even closer to the music you love. With our latest enhancement to DJ, you can use your voice to request music and guide the vibe of your listening session in real time. Meanwhile, AI Playlist—now in beta in more than 50 markets—lets you generate custom playlists by entering a unique prompt into the chat.

For example, you might prompt AI Playlist to “create a reggaeton playlist for chillin’ by the pool,” or ask DJ to “play hot new releases for a day at the beach.” Whatever your mood, your ideal summer soundtrack is just a request away.

Discover live music near you

Nothing beats the energy of a live show. With Concerts Near You, a new personalized playlist that updates every Wednesday, you’ll get 30 songs from artists performing nearby, plus event details and ticket links right in the app. (This feature is also available to our Free users.) Just make sure your location is up-to-date in the “Live Events” section, and you’ll never miss a chance to turn a summer night into a memory.

Take your music anywhere

Headed off the grid? With Offline Backup, take your summer anthems wherever you go—no downloads or Wi-Fi required. This feature creates a unique playlist from your queued and recently streamed tracks so you can keep the music going whether you’re flying, hiking, or relaxing on a remote beach.

Fine-tune your listening

With our new user controls, it’s easier to make every playlist and listening session feel just right. Adjust your track list preferences with Add, Sort, and Edit; guide your session with a refreshed Queue; and use the Hide button to temporarily remove tracks from your recommendations so your music always fits the moment, all summer long.

If you love diving deep into your saved music, curation is now even more intuitive. In the U.K., U.S., Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, and South Africa, you can filter your Liked Songs by genre and tap “Make this a playlist” to instantly create custom mixes from your favorites.

Stay tuned for more tips to personalize your listening and get the most out of your Spotify Premium experience, with new features and enhancements always on the horizon.

Spotify Launches Audiobooks in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg—and Premium Listeners Get Instant Access

Since its launch just over a year ago, Spotify’s Audiobooks in Premium offering has helped introduce the format to an entirely new audience across the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. We’re seeing more listeners try audiobooks for the first time and embrace new and different books, with hundreds of thousands of unique titles streamed.

Today, we’re thrilled to announce that listeners in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg will now have access to audiobooks, which includes exciting work from local authors such as Gaël Faye, Maylis de Kerangal, Joël Dicker, Suzanne Vermeer, and Saskia Noort, to name a few.

Eligible Spotify Premium subscribers in those countries will be able to access more than 200,000 audiobook titles as part of their subscriptions. Any title not included in our Audiobooks in Premium offering can be purchased à la carte. Listeners in these regions without a Premium subscription can also purchase any title on Spotify.

In partnership with publishers from across these markets, Spotify, the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service, has the potential to grow the size of the audiobook industry overall. We are enabling more listeners than ever to discover and engage with a rich catalog of titles, including in their own language, and paving the way for future innovation of the audiobook format.

“Spotify’s reach presents a significant opportunity to expand the audiobooks market across France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg,” said Antoine Monin, Managing Director, Spotify Western Europe. “Since our launch in Western Europe 16 years ago, Spotify has evolved into a leading platform for music, podcasts, and now audiobooks. We are proud to spotlight this region’s rich literary tradition, with 15,000 French and 15,000 Dutch and Flemish titles joining our catalog, advancing our mission to empower audio creators globally and connect them with audiences both locally and internationally.”

One year of Audiobooks in Premium

While it’s still early days, the reaction to Audiobooks in Premium from authors, publishers, and listeners in available markets has been remarkable. On Spotify, we’ve seen user engagement increase among listeners who started an audiobook for the first time. In the U.S., these users spend an average of five additional hours on Spotify over their first two months after starting a book.

This launch opens up new opportunities for local authors and rights holders and helps create an additional revenue stream for the industry. With 28% of Spotify’s users located in Europe, we’ll continue investing in and growing the available audience and revenue pies for publishers and authors.

Spotify announced this latest expansion today in Paris with a panel featuring voices from across the industry: Laure Saget, CEO of Hachette’s Audiolib and Audiobook Commission President at the French Publishers Association, Liza Faja, Head of Lizzie, the audiobook imprint of Editis, Éric Marbeau, Head of Digital Distribution at Madrigall, parent company of Éditions Gallimard and Editions Flammarion, and Timothée Borne, CEO of the immersive audio content production company Blynd Media.

5 Spotify Premium Hacks You Need To Know

Finding the perfect song, pod, or audiobook can be transformative, which is why we here at Spotify continuously innovate our products and features to provide the best experience possible. For our more than 200 million Premium subscribers, that includes plenty of perks beyond access to ad-free music listening. If you’re a Spotify Premium user, here are five hacks you need to know to make the most out of your subscription.

How to download your favorites for offline listening

No Wi-Fi, no problem. Before you go off the grid, download your favorite music and audiobooks so you can listen anytime, anywhere.

Navigate to the playlist, song, album, podcast, or audiobook you want to download and tap the ( ↓ ) icon at the top of the page.

How to multitask like a pro with the Desktop Miniplayer

This top-requested feature from users is now live and available for Premium subscribers using Spotify on Desktop. Premium listeners can open up a miniature window for Spotify, giving them playback control while using other apps and windows.

So whether you’re listening to your daylist while answering emails or watching your favorite music video (available in select markets) while online shopping, the new Desktop Miniplayer is the ultimate companion. It’s fully flexible, meaning it can be stretched as big or as small as you’d like, and is easy to move around your screen.

How to find your next beach read with audiobooks in Premium

Booklovers, rejoice! In the U.S., U.K, and Australia—and coming soon in Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand—Premium subscribers can stream up to 15 hours each month of over 250,000 audiobooks on Spotify, all included in their existing plan. This includes a sweeping range of both contemporary and classic novels, from RuPaul’s The House of Hidden Meanings to Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights.

Any book marked “Included in Premium” is available to each Premium Individual subscriber, as well as plan managers for Family and Duo accounts. Just hit play and dive right in.

How to soundtrack your day using our AI DJ

Ever wish you could just sit back and let someone else pick your favorite music for you? Well, if you have Premium, you’re in luck. Did you know that Spotify has a personalized AI DJ named X? Simply tap the “Music” tab in the Spotify app or search “DJ” to launch your personal DJ experience complete with tailored song selections, cultural commentary, and more.

How to start a group-listening session with Spotify Jam

There’s nothing quite like connecting over a shared love of music. That’s the beauty of Jam, a personalized, real-time listening session for your group to tune in to together. While anyone can join a Jam in person, only Premium users can “host” a Jam session with full control over the queue. Premium users are also the only ones who can join or create a long-distance Jam wherever they are.

Select a playlist or song to get started. You’ll see the “Start a Jam” button by clicking the speaker icon at the bottom of your screen or by hitting the three-dot menu within the playlist or song. You can also select a device to play on, whether that’s your phone or a speaker.

You can then invite your squad by turning on Bluetooth and tapping your phones together, or by having your friends scan the QR code on your host screen. You can also hit “share” to send the link through social, text, SMS, and more.

Oh, and Jam also works on desktop. Simply tap the three-dot menu or right click on a playlist or song, click “Start a Jam,” and then invite your friends through a share link or QR code.

Content Creator Sebastien Andrade Reveals How You Can Get Three Free Months of Spotify Premium

With more than 10 million followers on TikTok and many more across platforms like Instagram and Snapchat, Sebastien Andrade is part of an exciting new wave of social media content creators who are making their mark. Based in Miami, the recent Florida International University grad has been a lifelong music lover, especially when it comes to Afrobeats and reggaeton. That’s why Spotify teamed up with him to help share our Holiday 2023 Premium Offer with his fans—and all eligible listeners.

From November 27 through December 31, eligible Spotify Free and first-time Spotify listeners who sign up for our Individual Premium plan will get three months for free. And for those missing their Individual Premium plan who canceled before Oct 27, Spotify is offering three months of the Individual Premium plan for just $10.99—less than $4 a month.

As a premium user, Sebastien loves being able to listen to playlists like Afro Hits and Baila Reggaeton on demand, ad-free, and with unlimited skips, and has been especially excited about recent new features like DJ and daylist—and he’s been telling the world about the perks of going Premium. For the Record wanted to know more about the artists, songs, and playlists Sebastien loves the most, so we sat down with him to find out.

Who are some of your favorite Afrobeats and reggaeton artists?

In terms of Afrobeats, there’s a lot of Wizkid on my playlist for sure. “Fever” is one of my favorite songs and it had to be on there. Same with his song “Ghetto Love.”

Burna Boy is also on there, as well as Rema and Ayra Starr, who are on the come-up. I really like them. And when it comes to reggaeton, I’ve been listening to a lot of Bad Gyal, Young Miko, Sech, Karol G, and Emilia

How about top Spotify playlists for those genres?

Usually I listen to my own playlists, but if I want to find some new songs, there’s one called Afro Hits that I’m into. There’s also one called Baila Reggaeton where I always discover new songs that I like.

Do you have a go-to Spotify feature for discovering music?

When you’re making playlists, there’s a feature at the bottom that suggests more songs with a similar vibe to add. It’s kind of like Smart Shuffle, but for making playlists.

It will recommend songs that I forgot about, and it’s great to just have it pop up there as a reminder.

Do you have any favorite Premium features?

I was using DJ last night and the songs X was choosing took me back to being in the car with my mom when I was a kid. It played this old Drake song that I forgot about called “Signs” and I was like, that’s crazy.

I like that X will jump in and be like, “Here’s what’s coming up next,” and then explain why DJ picked those songs. I also like how it switches up the vibe every so often. I can keep listening for hours.

I was also using daylist recently and it created this playlist for me that was called something like “Island Time Vacation.” I actually discovered another Wizkid song called “Anoti” that ended up on my playlist.

When you’re driving through Miami, what are three songs that perfectly set the vibe?

When I’m in my car, I always see people on their boats, and I like to imagine I’m on a boat too. So in those moments, I’ll obviously put on Wizkid’s “Fever.” But I’ll also queue up Sech’s “911” and Cris MJ’s Una Noche en Medellín.” That last song is about the Colombian city, but it still has a big Miami vibe.

Don’t forget to give yourself the gift of ad-free music listening with our three-month free Premium offer. Just go to spotify.com/premium. And after you do that, check out our Afro Hits playlists to discover all the Afrobeats icons Sebastien can’t stop listening to.

200,000+ Audiobooks Are Now Available to Spotify Premium Listeners in the U.S.

Audiobook lovers across the U.S., rejoice! As of today, Spotify Premium users in the U.S. join those in the U.K. and Australia as we make over 200,000 audiobooks available as part of Spotify Premium subscriptions. How’s that for a sequel?

To start, we’re offering each Premium individual, as well as plan managers for Family and Duo accounts, 15 hours of listening per month. There’s no need for you to do anything: Starting today, you’ll simply start seeing audiobooks marked as “Included in Premium” that you can hit play on right away. Fifteen hours should get you around two average audiobooks per month, but if you do hit the limit, you can purchase a 10-hour top-up.

Our Spotify Premium audiobook catalog has something for everyone, including over 70% of bestselling titles: from of-the-moment sensations like Britney Spears’ The Woman in Me and Jesmyn Ward’s Let Us Descend, to beloved classics like Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist and Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights. Listeners will love exploring the depths of our 200,000-strong catalog, unearthing genres from “cozy mystery” to “historical romance.”

Audiobooks are an entertaining way to finally get around to all the books you’ve always meant to read, a new way to experience the stories you already love, and a great way to discover your next favorite book. In fact, we ran a consumer survey of over 1,000 Americans that showed that the younger generations are really taking to audiobook listening: Gen Z and millennials lead in audiobook listening, with 72% of 18-to-34-year-olds reporting that they listen to audiobooks.

But why are so many people listening to audiobooks these days? We also found that people are turning to “comfort listening.” Relaxation (63%) and comfort (51%) are the top emotions associated with audiobook listening. Plus, 41% of audiobook listeners prefer audiobooks because of cognitive benefits—like improving their memory or keeping their minds active.

3 Reasons Why Spotify for Work Should Be Your Next Employee Benefit

At Spotify, we’ve long believed that to do good work, you need to feel your best—and to know that your employer has your back. We know that we’re not alone in thinking this. So last year, we unveiled a new partner proposition: Spotify for Work. This allows companies to offer Spotify Premium to employees so that more people can access the unique power of audio as a benefit from their employer.

Following our successful pilot last year, we’re now opening up the opportunity for partners with more than 50,000 employees to bring the power of audio to their staff.

Spotify for Work is a modern benefit that has the potential to reach and resonate with every employee, no matter their role or location, and help build a stronger sense of community at every company. Here’s why employers should consider the benefit for their companies:

  1. Over the past few years, as the barriers between work and personal life blurred due to an increasingly distributed workforce, employees around the world have needed more support from their place of work than ever before. For employers, being able to offer competitive benefits that are valued by employees is a key lever in attracting and retaining top talent.
  2. Our research shows that audio helps with productivity, focus, and relaxation. So offering employees access to top-tier music and podcasts benefits both their work and their lives. Our extensive catalog of music and podcasts helps support employees at work and in their spare time—whether they’re streaming our Deep Focus playlist to get in the productive mindset, a meditation exercise to unwind, or an entertaining fiction podcast like Case 63
  3. Audio also builds community—whether through creating onboarding playlists for new joiners, a podcast-listening club shared between employees, or Blending with family and friends outside of a 9-5 job. So in addition to enabling entertainment and productivity, Spotify for Work can help employers create bonding opportunities for their teams.

Spotify’s Journey to 200 Million Subscribers

200 M header on black background

This week, as part of Spotify’s quarterly earnings announcement, we shared that we have officially surpassed 200 million subscribers. These fans are the heart of Spotify, and look to us to discover new music and podcasts, stay attuned to culture, and connect with their favorite creators.

Also thanks to our subscribers, we’re able to:

  • Innovate: We invest back into the product, rewarding subscriber loyalty with the very best user experience through features like Blend, Discover Weekly and Wrapped.
  • Expand: We’ve grown with our users, offering life stage and market-tailored plans like Family, Student and Spotify Mini.
  • Scale: We’re now live in over 180 markets, creating a truly global community united by audio.
  • Support: We’ve paid music rights holders, including record labels, publishers, distributors (and more) $30 billion since our founding.* We’re also using our platform and marketing to amplify and support artists, with programs like Frequency, Radar, EQUAL, and the recently launched GLOW.  (*As of December 2021)

Take a look back at a few of the milestones in a journey that began at our 2008 launch.
