82 Artists, 10 Countries, Limitless Sounds: Meet the RADAR Asia Class of 2025

The sounds of Asia are as diverse and vibrant as the continent itself. From the lively beats of Indonesian pop to the gritty rhymes of Pinoy hip-hop, the region is brimming with musical innovation.

Since 2020, Spotify has helped artists across Asia chart their paths to stardom through RADAR, our global program to support emerging talent. Now we’re thrilled to introduce the RADAR Asia class of 2025. Featuring 82 artists, the class represents Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

These artists span a range of styles and genres, reflecting the continent’s rich musical landscape. Representing RADAR Indonesia, acts like The Lantis evoke the nostalgia of ’80s Indonesian pop, while Aftershine brings the beautiful sound of Javanese pop to the forefront.

“RADAR is motivation. It fuels our passion, pushes us to dream bigger, and reminds us that every song we create has the potential to reach someone, somewhere,” said indie pop band The Lantis. “It’s a reminder that our music matters, that our stories resonate, and that there are listeners out there waiting to connect with what we create.”

With T-pop on the rise, RADAR Thailand welcomes groups like LYKN and FLIRT, as well as alt-rock duo SHERRY.

“We’re truly honored to be part of this year’s RADAR Thailand lineup,” said SHERRY. “Spotify is all about its users and creatives. It allows us to highlight our hard work and craft to a bigger audience in Thailand and beyond. We can’t wait to show our fans what we have in store for them in 2025.”

To the east, RADAR Philippines welcomes Pinoy female rapper Zae and Baguio-raised indie band Dilaw, among others, while pop and hip-hop acts such as Ánh Sáng AZA and CoolKid join RADAR Vietnam.

RADAR 新勢力, which is dedicated to the wider Mandopop space, welcomes newcomers like 艾蜜莉AMILI and Eileen Yo游宇潼. And in Japan, where RADAR is locally known as Early Noise, the 2025 class includes AKASAKI and Billyrrom. Finally, from the home of K-Pop, rookie group MEOVV is RADAR Korea’s first featured artist of the year.

“Music and culture are always evolving, and at Spotify, we’re here to celebrate that,” said Kossy Ng, Spotify Head of Music, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong & Taiwan. “With RADAR, we’re excited to shine a light on the breadth of incredible rising talents in Asia that span different genres and sounds. There’s so much to discover and something for everyone. We’re committed to supporting artists for the long haul, helping music from Asia reach fans all over the world.”

As part of the program, RADAR artists receive Spotify support through a dedicated playlist and special editorial placement. This support is clearly making waves in Asia and beyond. Globally, five of Spotify’s top 10 RADAR artists last year came from the Philippines. In Korea, meanwhile, last year’s RADAR artists saw a 34% boost in their average daily streams in the six months following their entry into the program. Bernadya is another success story: The 2023 RADAR Indonesia artist experienced a stunning 91% surge in monthly listeners a year after joining the program and became Spotify Indonesia’s top artist of 2024. This momentum continues across the region, with our RADAR Vietnam playlist boasting more than 70% international streams.

Celebrating 10 Years of Spotify in the Philippines

Since launching in the Philippines 10 years ago, Spotify has redefined how Filipinos discover and engage with music, fostering a thriving, fan-driven culture. Our Top 50 – Philippines chart is now close to 75% local, showcasing the vibrancy of the local music scene.

Furthermore, Pinoy music streams have quadrupled globally over the past five years, with the U.S., Canada, Indonesia, Poland, and Australia representing the top markets outside the Philippines. Global daily streams of playlists like KALYE have increased by 600% in the last five years, while P-Pop on the Rise has grown by 138% year over year.

To mark a decade of Pinoy music’s growth on Spotify, we’ve celebrated with a special edition of Spotify Lounge, a refreshed Pinoy Music hub, and a unique collaboration with Billboard Philippines on a special Spotify issue packed with interviews with top artists, industry insights from our music team, and our impact in the Philippines.

Spotify honors the best and brightest Pinoy artists

Spotify Lounge: Philippines Edition brought together 400 artists, labels, VIPs, media, and business partners to celebrate all things Pinoy music. Highlights from the night include performances from Ben&Ben, Moira Dela Torre, and Spotify RADAR artist Maki, who were celebrated for their innovative sounds and styles, shaping the next wave of Pinoy music.

Airbnb and Spotify Team Up During Thailand’s Songkran Festival to Help Travelers Relax and Rejuvenate

As Thailand kicked off its new year and celebrated Songkran, we teamed up with Airbnb to help travelers find the hottest songs and stays for their wellness getaways.

Airbnb and Spotify jointly curated the popular T-Pop playlist เหนื่อยนักพักก่อน (Let’s Get Some Rest), which includes travel-inspired hits from some of Thailand’s most popular artists. Airbnb also created the wellness-themed “Sawasdee Songkran” Wishlist showcasing unique Thai homes where travelers could enjoy a rejuvenating getaway and tune into the top Thai hits.

“Travel and music go hand in hand. Whether you’re curating the perfect flight playlist or unwinding to tunes in your Airbnb stay, music is often a key component of a travel journey,” said Cheryl Tay, who leads communications for Airbnb in Southeast Asia. “Songkran in particular is known for exuberant water fights, colorful celebrations in the streets, and days of merrymaking that are soundtracked by joyful music. But it also marks an opportunity for us to rest and reset as we embrace the dawn of a new year. As the world returns to normal, we wanted to emphasize the importance of seeking rest.”

From stylish beachside villas to dreamy treehouse cabins in the woods, we’ve offered Airbnb guests the chance to make their stay even more memorable with Spotify’s latest Premium Mini offer in Thailand. Available for just THB2, guests have been able to sign up right from their phones and soundtrack their adventures with one week of nonstop, ad-free music listening.

To get travelers in the holiday spirit, we also launched our brand-new playlist สวัสดีสงกรานต์ (Sawasdee Songkran). Filled with homegrown Thai artists like GAVIN.D, YOUNGOHM, and SPRITE, we’re introducing the world to the sounds of Tud Tud, Pump Pump, and Ah Ah—well-known rhythms that help make some of the most popular Thai songs so catchy.

To learn more about how travel and music play into the culture and traditions of Songkran, For the Record spoke with Piyoros Luckcam, Spotify’s Senior Music Editor, Thailand.

What role does music traditionally play in Thailand’s Songkran celebrations?

Music is the world’s greatest connecting force. When Thailand comes to life for Songkran every April, music helps make the experience more immersive and meaningful for Thais and visitors from all over the world. Crowds throng the streets, pulsating to the sounds of popular Thai genres as they’re energized by Thailand’s warm and fun-loving culture.

Much like the rest of the year, music is the soundtrack to the lives of Thais. The name Songkran is derived from a Sanskrit word that means “to start new,” but we also like to think that it reflects how Thai music—especially Thai pop and hip-hop—has been refreshed in recent times.

Whether splashing water, stepping into a temple, or traveling home to visit family, Songkran is a moment to pause and soak in the melodic tunes of joy and reflection.

Are there specific qualities about Thai-Pop (T-Pop) that make it a popular genre for festive moments in Thailand?

Songkran is a time when everyone comes together to literally soak up the fun on the streets. As people dive into a new year of resolutions and adventure, the catchy beats and memorable lyrics of T-Pop capture this period’s energy and verve. We’ve seen global consumption of T-Pop doubling in the past year, with no signs of slowing down.

Thailand continues to see its passionate artists supercharging the growth of its music industry. The new generation of T-Pop artists and bands, known for their high-octane performances and uplifting lyrics, is starting to draw attention from fans around the globe.

How do the RADAR Thailand and EQUAL Thailand artists embody the spirit of Songkran with their music?

The Thai New Year often calls for new aspirations or rejuvenation—not just for locals, but for international visitors experiencing the cultural moment. Our collaboration with Airbnb will not only inspire Thais to relax and rejuvenate during the New Year holidays, but also celebrate local culture and its people by making connections with Airbnb hosts and discovering our RADAR and EQUAL artists

We hope that as listeners travel the country with loved ones, they’ll feel inspired by the diversity and vibrancy of Thailand’s music scene and the hit songs that encapsulate the spirit of Songkran.

This Week on the ‘Spotify: For the Record’ Podcast, How K-Pop Became a Global Phenomenon

Since Spotify debuted our first K-Pop playlist in 2014, listeners have streamed more than 180 billion minutes of the genre and added K-Pop tracks to more than 120 million Spotify playlists. The share of K-Pop listening has increased by more than 2,000% in the last six years—meaning it’s growing really quickly compared to other musical genres. All this to say: K-Pop is huge on Spotify around the world.

That’s why we’re devoting this week’s episode of our new podcast Spotify: For the Record to K-Pop—and talking to some of the biggest fans and names in the business about where the genre has been and where it’s headed.

Tune in to hear from Kossy Ng, Spotify’s Head of Artist Label Partnerships in Southeast Asia, and consider the genre’s domestic origins (prior to world domination). Then, explore K-Pop’s global impact with Babi Dewet and Érica Imenes, a pair of Brazilian K-Pop fans who have founded K-Pop-themed groups, written books, and even created a K-Pop-themed podcast, Kpapo.

Keep listening to get to know Wonho Chung, a Korean actor, singer, and comedian who was born in Saudi Arabia, educated in Jordan, lives in the UAE, and witnessed the rise of K-Pop in the Middle East firsthand. Finally, bring it home with one of the top 10 most-streamed K-Pop artists of all time, Stray Kids, who share how the genre transcends the barriers of language . . . and impersonate a mosquito.
